NRC Digest: Getting ready to Rock'N'Roll

Looking forward to cheering you on this weekend!

A huge congrats to everyone who survived another winter training season. Luckily the days of more sun and warmth are here, along with our favorite races of the year. Cherry blossom peak bloom is estimated to be around March 23-April 3, so get your cameras and allergy medicine ready. It’s going to be a busy spring with many races and events, and we hope to see you there!

NoMa MoMA: Monthly Member Awareness

Antonio Rossi

If you didn’t already know, Antonio has been crafting this newsletter behind the scenes every month since its creation, and we will miss him as he moves on to different responsibilities on the leadership team. He’s also pretty speedy and overall a pretty great guy. Thank you Antonio!

Why did you join NoMa Run Club?
When I first moved to the area a few years ago, I didn’t know anyone and was looking for a way to meet people. I saw a flyer in REI advertising NoMa Run club and have been around since then. Props to Liz and August for creating this community.

Favorite place to run in DC?
I really like running along the water so I am often doing laps around Hains Point or taking the Mount Vernon trail up to Georgetown and then taking the Rock Creek trail back into the city.

What are your next running goals?
I am currently training mode for a marathon and hope to have a go at it in the spring.

You’re also a pilot! How did you become interested in flying?
Don't think private jets here, just a pilot's license for a four-seater single-engine airplane. Growing up, I dreamed of becoming a commercial airline pilot, and this is the next best thing. I’ve already taken several NoMa Run Club members up for a flight—and, more importantly, brought them safely back down. If you’re interested in flying around the area, let me know!

What do you do when you’re not running (and biking and flying)?
Until recently I had the pleasure of working on this newsletter, but I am looking for a new hobby this year even though those 3 activities already take up a lot of time :). I have some golfing plans in the works. Otherwise, I can't wait for the F1 season to start next week.
