NRC Digest: After Peak Bloom

It's been a jam-packed spring!

Congratulations to everyone who ran one or more of DC’s flagship spring races! You all inspired us to make the most of the warm, but not yet hot, weather. And thank you to those of you who came out to cheer and provide the runners with a variety of beverages to help them through their races.

We have a packed next month, so see you out there while we dodge April showers together.

Remember to let us know if you’re racing and to update us after your race!

Washington’s largest and oldest 10K will bring runners through the roadways of historic Capitol Hill, winding past the U.S. Capitol, the Supreme Court, the Library of Congress, the Folger Shakespeare Library, Lincoln Park, East Capitol Street, and RFK Stadium.

🌜 Washington D.C. Twilight 5000 - Saturday, May 31 @ 6 pm at Catholic University Track
DC’s most rained-on event (don’t fact check me on that, vibes only) will return at the end of May. 12.5 laps around a track, how far can it be, really? If you aren’t running, still come out and cheer - you can actually see the runners the whole time they’re racing! Heads up, this usually sells out, so sign up early!

NoMa MoMA: Monthly Member Awareness

Terry Tait

We want to give a huge congratulations to Terry for his coffee cart, Truss Coffee, after so many months of planning and crowdfunding! Thank you for providing a much needed caffeine stop to the MBT. NRC coffee blend collab coming when??

Why did you join NoMa Run Club?
I wanted to run with more people, and meeting in front of Red Bear was extremely convenient and enticing.

Favorite place to run in DC?
The Anacostia Riverwalk Trail.

What are your next running goals?
When I have the time, the next goal will be hitting a sub 3 hour marathon.

What inspired you to start Truss Coffee?
I've been thinking about start my own coffee company for a long time. I want to use the company as a medium to build connection and community in DC and with our producers at origin, while serving some great coffee along the way.

What is your preferred coffee order?
Usually an espresso or a new featured drink.

What do you like to do when you’re not running or making coffee?
I love going to concerts and checking out different venues in town.

You can find Truss Coffee at Alethia Tanner park every Friday and Saturday from 8 am to 1 pm and can order bags of coffee and other merch through the website.

Cherry Blossom 5k and 10 miler - April 6 & 7
It wouldn’t be the Cherry Blossom 10 miler if it didn’t take place shortly after a storm knocked down most of the blossoms, but our runners still lit up the Tidal Basin. Congratulations to everyone who ran and thank you to all who came out to cheer.
